Endrick Reveals Cristiano Ronaldo Is His Idol and Opens Up About His Preferred Position
Brazilian teenager Endrick is living a dream since arriving at Olympique de Lyon, where he has quickly become one of the team’s standout performers. The forward also opened up about the player he admires most and the position he truly sees himself playing.
After leaving Real Madrid in search of regular playing time, Endrick has made an immediate impact in Ligue 1, scoring four goals and providing one assist in just three matches, establishing himself as Lyon’s new attacking reference.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Endrick’s Ultimate Idol
With his sights firmly set on earning a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Endrick made it clear that his biggest inspiration is Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is my number one idol. He is an incomparable player who has always worked extremely hard. He represents someone who improves every single day,” Endrick said in an interview published by French newspaper L’Équipe.
A Natural No.9 Willing to Play Out Wide
Although Endrick sees himself primarily as a traditional striker, he also acknowledged that he is willing to adapt for the good of the team.
“People who understand football know that my position isn’t on the right wing — I’m a No.9. But I want to play, and I’ll do everything I can to help the team,” he explained.
Endrick added that head coach Paulo Fonseca gives him freedom when deployed on the flank:
“On the right side, the coach gives me freedom. He knows I’m a No.9, but right now he needs me there.”
