Cristiano Ronaldo Risks His Career Chasing 1,000 Goals – How Many Has He Scored So Far?
Cristiano Ronaldo has made a decision that could seriously affect his path to 1,000 career goals
Currently, the Portuguese forward is exactly 39 goals away from reaching this historic milestone, which dominates headlines around the world. However, according to A Bola and confirmed by the sports daily AS, Ronaldo has reportedly used his media influence as a form of protest, a stance that could directly impact the final stretch of his career.
How many goals does Cristiano Ronaldo have?
Ronaldo last scored for Al Nassr during the visit to Al Kholood at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium in Buraydah, for matchday 18 of the Saudi Pro League. Al Nassr won 3-0, and Cristiano Ronaldo reached 961 career goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo refuses to play for Al Nassr, tensions rise with the PIF in Saudi Arabia
The Portuguese forward will not play this Monday with Al Nassr, amid growing dissatisfaction with the club's management, controlled by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), according to AS.
Initially, local media reported that CR7’s absence was a technical decision to preserve him for the upcoming crucial match against Al Ittihad. However, recent reports suggest a deeper reason: Cristiano reportedly refused to play, unhappy with the direction of the club’s sporting project.
The main source of the conflict appears to be the unequal treatment by the PIF compared to other league clubs, especially Al Hilal, the current league leader and one of the best-funded teams. The potential arrival of Karim Benzema to Al Hilal, following his departure from Al Ittihad, reportedly increased the Portuguese captain’s frustration.
Cristiano is also said to be frustrated by the lack of reinforcements at Al Nassr to tackle the decisive stage of the season. Despite requests from head coach Jorge Jesus, the club has only signed the young Haydeer Abdulkareem, while direct rivals continue strengthening their squads.
According to A Bola, tensions escalated further after the club’s Board of Directors froze the roles of two key figures: Simão Coutinho, sporting director, and José Semedo, CEO, both Portuguese and close to Ronaldo. The forward reportedly saw this as a sign of weakness in the club’s sporting planning.
