Cristiano Ronaldo Reaches 100 Goals With Al-Nassr and Moves Closer to a Title
Another decisive performance from Cristiano Ronaldo and a hat trick from Joao Félix pushed Al-Nassr one step closer to the Saudi league title.
Al-Nassr delivered a major statement in the title race after defeating Al Shabab 4-2 away from home in a match where Cristiano Ronaldo once again stole the spotlight and reached a historic milestone with the Saudi club. The Portuguese superstar scored his 100th goal for Al-Nassr, continuing to add to his legendary career tally.
The side coached by Jorge Jesus produced an impressive attacking display to move within touching distance of the Saudi Pro League title. With 82 points and only a few matches remaining, Al-Nassr could mathematically secure the championship in the upcoming derby against Al-Hilal.
Cristiano and Joao Félix Lead the Way
The match started perfectly for Al-Nassr. Just three minutes into the game, Joao Félix opened the scoring after capitalizing on a rebound inside the penalty area following a play initiated by Sadio Mané. The Portuguese forward finished with a powerful volley that left Brazilian goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe with no chance.
Shortly afterward, Cristiano Ronaldo got on the scoresheet. The veteran striker headed home a cross from Abdulrahman Ghareeb to double the lead and reach another remarkable milestone with the Saudi side. The goal also marked the 971st of his professional career, bringing him even closer to his personal target of 1,000 career goals.
Although Al Shabab responded through Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, who took advantage of a defensive mistake to pull one back, the home side never fully managed to take control of the match.
Al-Nassr Closes In on the Championship
In the second half, Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up again at a crucial moment. After a well-worked team move, the Portuguese forward finished from inside the area to make it 3-1 and give his side breathing room.
The match still had more drama to offer after Ali Al Bulayhi scored to bring Al Shabab back into contention, but in stoppage time Joao Félix completed his hat trick from the penalty spot to seal the 4-2 victory.
The result leaves Al-Nassr alone at the top of the Saudi Pro League standings and within reach of a historic title for both the club and Cristiano Ronaldo, who is still chasing his first domestic league trophy since arriving in Saudi Arabia.
Now, all eyes turn to the clash against Al-Hilal, a showdown that could officially crown Al-Nassr champions and add yet another trophy to Cristiano Ronaldo’s extraordinary career.
