“My son could have left through the front door”: Cristiano Ronaldo's mother shares her pain
Dolores Aveiro expressed her sadness over Cristiano Ronaldo's departure from Portugal's national team following his dispute with Jorge Jesus, insisting that her son is not receiving the recognition he deserves.
The controversy involving Cristiano Ronaldo and Jorge Jesus continues to generate reactions in Portugal. This time, the forward's mother, Dolores Aveiro, has expressed her disappointment over the circumstances surrounding her son's departure from the national team camp.
Speaking to Portuguese magazine TV 7 Dias, Dolores described the situation as a “shock” and lamented how Cristiano's departure unfolded.
“My son could have left through the front door, but instead he went out through the back door. But it's alright, God will take care of it,” she said.
Her comments come after the 41-year-old forward left Portugal's training camp on September 30, following disagreements with the national team coach.
“He has always been Portugal's hero”
Cristiano's mother also defended her son's importance to Portuguese soccer and questioned how he has been treated.
“He has always been Portugal's hero. They are not valuing him the way they should,” Dolores Aveiro said.
Her comments reflect the family's disappointment over a situation that has raised questions about the Al Nassr forward's international future, although Ronaldo has not announced his retirement from Portugal.

Why did Cristiano Ronaldo leave Portugal's national team?
The controversy began after Portugal's 2-1 victory over Norway in Oslo on September 27.
Cristiano remained on the bench and, despite warming up for approximately half an hour, was never brought into the match.
The forward later explained his frustration with Jorge Jesus's decision.
“I had been warming up since halftime. I watched the minutes go by, and they never called me. The coach had not kept his word,” Ronaldo wrote in a statement.
On September 30, the Portuguese star left the national team camp.
Sporting highlights Cristiano Ronaldo's global legacy
Amid the controversy, Rui Borges, head coach of Sporting CP, also spoke about the player who began his professional career at the Lisbon club.
Borges declined to comment on the disagreement between Ronaldo and Jorge Jesus, saying he did not have the “ability or the right” to do so.
He did, however, praise the forward's worldwide impact.
“When it comes to Cristiano Ronaldo's greatness, it goes beyond Sporting. It's worldwide. We cannot even begin to imagine what Ronaldo represents to people around the world,” Borges said.
He added: “I feel enormous pride in having enjoyed, and continuing to enjoy, his footballing greatness.”
The Sporting coach also insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo will say goodbye to Portugal's national team whenever and however he chooses.
Ronaldo's connection with Sporting remains visible in Lisbon. The club's training complex is named the Cristiano Ronaldo Academy, while his image appears at Gate 7 of the José Alvalade Stadium, honoring his iconic shirt number.
