Will James Rodríguez Debut Against Barcelona?
James Rodríguez, who recently became a new player for Rayo Vallecano, will not make his debut for the Madrid-based team in Tuesday's La Liga match against Barcelona, which is part of the third round of the EASports League.
With his move to Rayo, James, who was named the best player of the last Copa América, returns to the Spanish league, a competition he previously played in during his time with Real Madrid (2014-2017 and 2019/2020).
"We need to wait a bit because he's coming off a rest after finishing the Copa América later, but we are very happy with his arrival," said his new coach, Iñigo Pérez, during the pre-match press conference ahead of the Barcelona game.
"James can play in all three attacking midfield positions. He has performed best as a playmaker, but he can also play as an eight. He will do well in any position," confessed the Spanish coach, who last season had another renowned Colombian player in his squad, Radamel Falcao.
"My experience with players who have achieved a lot, like Falcao recently, is that there are two paths: either they are inaccessible to others, or they excel both athletically and personally. If he's here, it will be the latter," Pérez concluded.
