Vinícius Upset With Racist Insults
Vinicius Junior, the Brazilian player from Real Madrid, expressed his dismay on Saturday on his social media platforms over three new "despicable" cases of "racism" in Spanish football. He showed his support for Marcos Acuña, the Argentine player from Sevilla, his coach Quique Sánchez Flores, and the goalkeeper of Rayo Majadahonda, Cheikh Kane Sarr.
"This weekend, I won't even be playing. Yet, we had three despicable cases of racism in Spain just this Saturday. All my support to Acuña, coach Quique Flores from Sevilla, and to Rayo Majadahonda, may their bravery inspire others," wrote the forward on his X profile.
At the Coliseum, the Getafe-Sevilla match had to be stopped, and the Madrid club warned the crowd through the loudspeakers as the visiting defender and his coach were subjected to insults. In Sestao, the match against Rayo Majadahonda, from the Primera Federación Group 1, was suspended in the 87th minute due to racist insults reported by the visiting goalkeeper Sarr, who confronted fans behind his goal and was subsequently expelled.
"Racists must be exposed, and matches cannot continue with them in the stands. We will only achieve victory when racists are escorted out of the stadiums straight to jail, where they belong," added the Brazilian.
