This is Lamine Yamal's Replacement for Spain After His Injury
Rodrigo Riquelme, Atlético Madrid's midfielder, has been called up by coach Luis de la Fuente to fill the spot left by Lamine Yamal due to injury, for Spain's Nations League match on Tuesday against Serbia in Córdoba.
De la Fuente urgently summoned Riquelme, who will join the national team for their evening training session at the Ciudad del Fútbol starting at 7:00 PM. The Madrid midfielder hasn’t played for Spain since November 2023, when he made his debut and featured in two Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Cyprus and Georgia, both of which ended in victories.
Riquelme is the third player De la Fuente has called up after Bryan Zaragoza and Sergio Gómez, following injuries to players initially selected for the games against Denmark and Serbia, such as Nico Williams, Bryan Gil, Yeremy Pino, and Lamine Yamal.
Other players out for the Serbia game in Córdoba include Unai Simón, Dani Carvajal, Robin Le Normand, Rodri Hernández, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Ayoze Pérez, and Ferran Torres.
