Spain Squad Announced with Major Addition and Several Returns
Luis de la Fuente announced his squad for the friendlies against Colombia and Brazil, with the notable inclusion of 17-year-old Pau Cubarsí.
The first call-up for Pau Cubarsí and Dani Vivian, along with the returns of Aymeric Laporte, Pedro Porro, Alex Baena, Pablo Sarabia, Dani Olmo, and Gerard Moreno, are the highlights of Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente's squad for the friendly matches against Colombia and Brazil.
Spain's return to action, after not having played since November, sees another list with many new faces under Luis de la Fuente's management for the second consecutive time. This is the last squad announcement before revealing the selected players to represent Spain in the Euro 2024 in Germany. Spain will face Colombia in London on March 22 and Brazil in Madrid on March 26.
Maintaining the three goalkeepers, with Álex Remiro replacing Kepa Arrizabalaga, the main changes come in the center of the defense. Cubarsí, aged 17, and Vivian (24) are the new faces in Luis de la Fuente's call-up, which also sees the return of Aymeric Laporte in an area of the field where David García is unavailable due to injury, while Íñigo Martínez and Pau Torres are left out.
For the first time since taking the position, De la Fuente calls up three right-backs. With Dani Carvajal being a regular, Jesús Navas retains his place, and Pedro Porro makes a comeback.
In midfield, where Pedri is still unable to participate due to a new muscle injury, De la Fuente's only change is the return of Álex Baena, who was absent from the November list, replacing Aleix García. Rodrigo Riquelme is also dropped to increase the number of forwards.
Dani Olmo, Pablo Sarabia, and Gerard Moreno return to the Spanish national team, with the absences of Marco Asensio and Ferran Torres, who are not fit in time after overcoming their respective injuries.
