Pogba Considers his Four-Year Suspension from Playing "Incorrect"
Paul Pogba, a footballer for Juventus Turin, deems the 4-year suspension he was handed today for testing positive for doping as "wrong" and announced that he will appeal the ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
"Everything I've built in my career as a professional player has been taken away from me," he stated today in a post on his Instagram account after the Italian Anti-Doping Agency (NADO) confirmed the positive test for testosterone on August 20 during the Udinese-Juventus match.
The French international, a 2018 World Cup champion, expressed being "sad, shocked, and devastated" and vowed that once free from legal restrictions, "the whole story will be clear."
"I have never knowingly or deliberately taken any supplements that violate anti-doping rules," added the footballer, who turns 31 next month.
Furthermore, Pogba maintained that he would "never do anything to enhance" his performance "through the use of prohibited substances" and that he has never "disrespected or deceived fellow athletes and supporters of any of the teams I've played for, or against."
The player, under contract with Juventus until July 2026, tested positive again in the confirmatory analysis conducted in September and remained provisionally suspended while NADO investigated the matter.
