"After the match in Barcelona (Champions League), I said two things. The second was that I wanted Xavi to continue at Barcelona. I still think the same," Luis Enrique said during the press conference ahead of Saturday's French Cup final between PSG and Olympique Lyon (OL).
The coach didn't elaborate further and added a humorous note regarding his conversation with the translator when a local journalist asked a question: "I heard 'Xavi' and already knew where this was heading."
Luis Enrique, 54, played alongside Xavi, 44, at Barcelona for six seasons. Later, he coached Xavi during the 2014-2015 season, which culminated in Barcelona's last Champions League title. They also shared time together on the Spanish national team from 2000 to 2002.
