Luis de la Fuente Hits Back at Vinícius Jr.'s Comments About Spain
Spain's national team coach, Luis de la Fuente, acknowledged that while he hasn't personally heard the comments made by Brazilian player Vinícius Jr., in which he suggested that the 2030 World Cup should "change location" if Spain doesn't improve its fight against racism, he responded by defending Spain as "a model of coexistence, respect, and integration."
"I haven't heard them, but I've been told about them," De la Fuente admitted when asked to respond to Vinícius's statements during a press conference in Belgrade.
"Spain is not racist; it’s an example of coexistence, respect, and integration. A model that many should look up to. Of course, there are always a few undesirables, but that's something we need to work on to eradicate them. But Spain is a model for many countries," De la Fuente stated in response to Vinícius's remarks.
Furthermore, the Spanish coach expressed confidence that Spain, along with Morocco and Portugal, will make a great host for the World Cup, calling it "a unique event" and "a future success," while defending Spain's ability to organize major events.
