Lothar Matthaus Thinks Leverkusen Could Snatch The Treble
The Bayern Munich legend, with over seven Bundesliga titles and six DFB Pokal wins, who played 406 games and scored 100 goals for Bayern, has talked about Bayer Leverkusen's strong form under Xabi Alonso.
"The calmness with which Leverkusen's success is being handled is key; nobody's hogging the limelight, nobody wants to be the star; instead, they're focused on the goal and know what they want," said the German ex-player about Leverkusen's season success.
Can Leverkusen end the season with a bang? Matthaus commented: "They can make history, not just by winning their first Bundesliga, but by clinching three trophies: the DFB Pokal, where they're also favorites, and the Europa League, even with strong teams like Liverpool. But with their style of play and mentality, they can achieve anything."
Speaking about the eight-point lead, he also talked about Bayern Munich's situation, calling them an "unstable" team nowadays, with a considerable disadvantage in the Bundesliga title race.
