Lewandowski Offered Financial Help to Barcelona
Barcelona President Joan Laporta revealed that Robert Lewandowski offered to help financially by adjusting his contract to support the club in meeting 'fair play' requirements. Laporta appreciated the gesture but assured the Polish striker it wasn't necessary, emphasizing Lewandowski’s commitment to the team.
Laporta praised Lewandowski's dedication, stating that the forward is "more motivated than ever" this season. He also highlighted Lewandowski’s physical condition, noting that the player "needed a new challenge" and is performing at a high level.
In a press conference at the Auditorio 1899, Laporta also discussed other key players and moves related to the club. He expressed confidence in coach Hansi Flick's reliance on La Masia talents, describing them as "the foundation of the club's sporting project."
Laporta mentioned that signing Dani Olmo was the club's "top sporting priority" over the summer. He appreciated Olmo's willingness to join Barcelona as his "only option" and expressed high hopes for another summer signing, forward Pau Víctor, who has already demonstrated his goal-scoring ability.
Regarding the departure of midfielder Ilkay Gündogan, Laporta explained that it was a "sporting decision" after Gündogan met with Flick and assessed the squad, where Olmo plays a similar role. He also noted that Gündogan's exit, which had no transfer fee involved, was economically beneficial for the club.
