Lamine Yamal Celebrates Birthday Amidst Records
Lamine Yamal was the star of the last hours of the Spanish national team, blowing out candles on a strawberry cake for his 17th birthday after lunch, with a wish expressed aloud: "I want to win the Euro as a gift.”
All the Spanish internationals sang "Happy Birthday" to Lamine Yamal. Enduring the jokes of his close friend Nico Williams, Yamal stood up after blowing out the candles and delivered a few brief words.
"I am very happy to be able to celebrate my birthday here and reach the final with all of you," he said. "For a gift, I want to win. Let's go for England!" he added timidly, receiving applause and more jokes.
Yamal has broken the following records in his early football career:
- Youngest scorer in La Liga history.
- Youngest player to score in Champions League history.
- Youngest player to debut and score in a European Championship.
