German Players to Earn Big for Winning Euro 2024
The players of the German national team will pocket a substantial amount each if they win the Eurocup.
The players of the German national team will pocket $448,000 each if the German team wins the Eurocup hosted this June.
According to German media reports, this amount would be the same as what the DFB, the German Football Association, has already promised to the players in the last two international tournaments (Euro 2021 and World Cup 2022). "In comparison to the European Championship 2021 and the World Cup 2022, tournament-related performance bonuses will not change. We agreed on this last year with the player council," said DFB CEO Andreas Rettig.
In that regard, a victory for the German team would cost the DFB a total of $11,648,000 million, considering the presence of up to 26 players in the squad. This amount would be offset by the $31,640,000 million in bonuses that UEFA would pay to the federation of the winning team.
In the last World Cup in Qatar, the German players did not receive money after being eliminated in the preliminary round. According to the information, $56,000 would have been paid for qualifying for the second phase - Germany was eliminated in the first -, $112,000 for reaching the quarter-finals, and $168,000 for the semi-finals.
The third-place finish would have provided each player with $224,000, a lost final would have provided $280,000, and winning the tournament would have provided the same $448,000 that are now being offered to their players if they become champions.
The highest tournament bonus paid by the DFB to date is $336,000 per player for Germany's victory in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
