England start their Toulon Tournament 2016 campaign with a deserved win against Portugal (1-0). The first half was lively with a lot of tension on the pitch but we saw also some great chances for the two teams. Lewis Baker was the first to distinguish himself but his effort was stopped by the Portugal keeper.
Baker had two more chances two times but the Portugal stopper parried the two strikes. Just before half time, Portugal had a chance but Gomes' curved shot was deflected by Pickford.
During the second half, the Young Three Lions took the lead. After a number of missed chances, Baker broke the deadlock on the hour mark after being set up by Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who put in a convincing performance all-around. This goal proved enough for England to defeat Portugal.
