Endrick Makes Debut in Brazil Training Alongside Vinícius and Rodrygo
TERESOPOLIS, Brazil.- Endrick, the 17-year-old football sensation, marked his first training session with Brazil's national team alongside Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo, his future Real Madrid teammates. This session, part of the preparations for the upcoming World Cup 2026 qualifier against Colombia, was held at the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) fields in Teresópolis, nestled in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro.
Despite his recent scoring spree with Palmeiras, leading them to the top of the Brazilian league, Endrick is expected to start on the bench. The young striker has scored four goals in his last four matches, showcasing his emerging talent.
The training, partially closed to the press, saw the formation of Brazil's new offensive trio. During the open segment, a practice match revealed Endrick playing with the substitute team, while Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo joined the starting lineup with Raphinha and Gabriel Martinelli.
The starting lineup showcased in the open training included Alisson; Emerson Royal, Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhães, Renan Lodi; André, Bruno Guimarães; Raphinha, Rodrygo, Vinícius Júnior, and Gabriel Martinelli. This lineup represents six changes from the team that faced a 1-0 defeat against Uruguay in Montevideo during the fourth round of the qualifiers.
Brazil's coach, Fernando Diniz, had to navigate through significant injury-related absences, including key players Neymar, Militão, Ederson, and Casemiro. André, the midfielder and recent Copa Libertadores winner with Fluminense, stepped in to fill the void.
Gabriel Jesus, recovering from a thigh injury, was the only player who didn't participate in the final part of the session. Dressed for the session, he instead remained on the bench.
Currently, Brazil stands third in the qualifier standings with seven points after four matches. Their next encounter is against Colombia, ranked fifth with six points, in Barranquilla. Following this, on November 21st, Brazil will face Argentina, the current leaders of the qualifiers with 12 points, in a highly-anticipated South American football classic at Rio de Janeiro's Maracanã Stadium.
