The U.S. Soccer Federation has named Emma Hayes as the 10th full-time head coach in the history of the U.S. Women’s National Team.

Hayes, 47, who has been the head coach for Chelsea FC, a highly successful women's team in Europe, began her coaching journey in the United States at the turn of the millennium. Now, more than two decades later, she is set to lead the USWNT.

Hayes is set to complete the 2023-24 Women’s Super League season in England before officially joining the U.S. team two months prior to the commencement of the 2024 Olympics. During this interim period, Twila Kilgore will continue as the head coach, subsequently transitioning to a full-time assistant coach on Hayes' staff. Crocker, Kilgore, and their team are actively collaborating on a comprehensive plan to facilitate a smooth and successful transition.

Upon officially joining U.S. Soccer, Hayes will have the opportunity to be on the U.S. bench for four matches before the Olympics, with two scheduled in June and two in July.
