Dani Alves Granted Bail with One Million Euro Bond
The Brazilian will have to pay a bail of one million euros to leave prison while the appeals to the four-and-a-half-year prison sentence are resolved.
The Barcelona Court has agreed to release former Barça player Dani Alves on bail of one million euros pending the finalization of the sentence that sentenced him to four and a half years in prison for sexually assaulting a young woman in a nightclub.
In a ruling, which has the dissenting opinion of one judge in favor of keeping the footballer in prison, the Barcelona Court allows Alves to leave prison if he pays the bail, with the obligation to surrender his two passports - Spanish and Brazilian -, not leave Spain, and appear weekly before the court.
The ruling also prohibits the footballer from approaching within a thousand meters of the victim's residence, workplace, or any other place she may frequent, as well as communicating with her by any means.
Upon receiving the resolution from the Court, the defense of the Brazilian international is trying to raise the one million euros demanded by the court: he will not be able to leave prison until he deposits it in the court's account and a new ruling is issued granting him provisional release.
