Carlo Ancelotti Will Be in Charge of Saving Neymar Ahead of The World Cup
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has made it official: Carlo Ancelotti will be the next head coach of the Brazilian national team, signing a contract that runs through the 2026 World Cup. The arrival of the Italian coach, currently in charge of Real Madrid, marks a dramatic shift for the most decorated team in football history, as they look to reclaim their place at the top after years of disappointment.
CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues had nothing but praise when announcing the appointment: “He’s the best coach in the world and now he’ll lead the best team in the world.” The move sends a strong message: Brazil is determined not to fail again.
Currently sitting fourth in the South American World Cup qualifiers, the Seleção has struggled for stability since Tite stepped down after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Since then, Fernando Diniz, Ramon Menezes, and most recently Dorival Júnior have come and gone without success. The latter was dismissed following a crushing defeat to Argentina.
Carlo Ancelotti, Neymar’s last hope
One of Carlo Ancelotti’s biggest challenges as Brazil manager will be to help Neymar Jr. return to his best form. The Santos forward, still recovering from a serious injury, has been absent from the national team in recent months. His return to elite football will depend heavily on the support and trust of the new coach, with whom he has enjoyed a strong relationship over the years.

Circumstances also favored Ancelotti. Before confirming his appointment, the CBF had strongly considered Jorge Jesus, the former Flamengo boss recently dismissed by Al-Hilal. However, Neymar’s camp vetoed that option due to lingering tension from their time together in Saudi Arabia. The lack of playing time and trust shown by Jesus left a lasting impact on the Brazilian star.
With the backing of players like Vinícius Jr. and Rodrygo, who know Ancelotti well from their time at Real Madrid, his arrival brings renewed optimism to a locker room in need of leadership. While young talents such as Endrick have yet to shine under his management, this new era presents fresh opportunities.
Ancelotti’s first official squad announcement is scheduled for May 26. Brazil will then face Ecuador and Paraguay in two crucial qualifiers. More than the results, all eyes will be on Neymar. If anyone can bring him back to his best and guide him to one last World Cup run, it’s Carlo Ancelotti.
