Boca Juniors and River Plate Unveil New Kits for the Club World Cup
The revamped Club World Cup, set to feature 32 teams for the first time in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025, is already generating excitement. A year ahead of the tournament, a supercomputer has surprised the football world with an unexpected prediction: Benfica is projected to become the next champion, surpassing powerhouses like Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Chelsea.
According to The Sun, the predictive model ran 10,000 simulations based on advanced statistics and updated betting odds. The results placed the Portuguese side at the top of their group, alongside Bayern Munich, Boca Juniors, and Auckland City—with Bayern finishing second and the Argentine team being eliminated in the group stage.
In the round of 16, the simulation predicts that Benfica will knock out Chelsea with a 3-1 victory, and eventually defeat Manchester City in a tight 2-1 final. The forecast also sees River Plate having a strong tournament, sharing a group with Inter Milan, Monterrey, and Urawa Reds Diamonds. According to the data, Martín Demichelis’s squad would advance to the knockout stage, eliminate Borussia Dortmund, and then fall in the quarterfinals to Juventus.
Boca and River Reveal Club World Cup Jerseys
While predictions stir the buzz, Boca Juniors and River Plate are already gearing up for the competition. Both Argentine giants have unveiled their new kits for the tournament through Adidas Argentina's official Instagram account.
For this historic return, Boca chose a darker shade of blue reminiscent of the kit worn during the 2007/08 season—the last time the Xeneize appeared in the tournament. The design features the club’s classic crest, evoking nostalgic memories for the fans.
River, on the other hand, introduced a traditional jersey with a modern twist: black accents replace the usual red on the sleeves, and the iconic three horizontal stripes make a comeback—a nod to earlier decades. The design retains the legendary red sash and sacred identity of the club, while subtle changes make it stand out.
Boca will make their tournament debut on Monday, June 16 against Benfica at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, while River will face Urawa Reds Diamonds on Tuesday the 17th at Lumen Field in Seattle. With brand-new jerseys and ambitions running high, both teams hope to make their mark on a competition that promises to redefine global club football.
