Berhalter Ensures That the USMNT Thrive Under Pressure
Gregg Berhalter, US coach, praises team's ability to handle pressure after winning Concacaf Nations League final against Mexico.
"Reacting well under pressure is where we shine. Matches like these are what we prepare for, especially with tournaments like the Copa América and the World Cup on the horizon," said Berhalter after his team's 2-0 victory over Mexico in the final.
"We wanted the trophy, we wanted to celebrate with those three fingers up. I congratulate my players for a great performance in this final; we're leaving content, especially for the fans."
Berhalter emphasized his players' determination to overcome a fierce Concacaf rival.
"It was a highly competitive match. We stayed focused, kept our cool, and showcased our football against a great team like Mexico. I highlight the intensity we displayed. Our goal was to reach the final and win it, and we did," he stressed.
Berhalter stated that this title puts them on a good path for the upcoming Copa América to be held in the United States this year.
He attributed the growth of the US team to the development project for young talents in Major League Soccer (MLS) and those playing in Europe.
"We want players performing at the highest level possible, whether it's in the MLS or in Europe. We don't have overconfidence in the players we're developing," he concluded.
