Barcelona Responds to DANA Disaster in Valencia
In the aftermath of the DANA storm that devastated Valencia, FC Barcelona, through its president Joan Laporta, has pledged direct support and financial aid to the hardest-hit areas. The club announced plans to collaborate with the mayors of Paiporta, Benetússer, and Catarroja, offering crucial aid in rebuilding efforts.
The support will be channeled through the Fundació FC Barcelona, focusing on specific reconstruction initiatives of essential services identified by the local authorities over the coming weeks and months.
Funding for these initiatives will come from the foundation’s own resources, supplemented by fundraising efforts such as auctioning jerseys signed by the first team players from their match against RCD Espanyol and other iconic memorabilia that appeals to the fanbase.
FC Barcelona will soon disclose which items will be auctioned and how fans can participate in this charitable auction, with additional initiatives to be announced.
The club and its foundation expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support and numerous requests for individual initiatives received in recent days.
Furthermore, the club emphasized the importance of directing support through expert entities like the Red Cross, Caritas, and the Food Bank to ensure the most effective assistance possible.
In a statement, Joan Laporta conveyed profound support and solidarity, stressing the club’s role in channeling aid and providing financial support for the rehabilitation of essential social and educational facilities directly to some of the municipalities most affected by the DANA disaster.
