Ancelotti is The Best Coach of The Year
Carlo Ancelotti and Emma Hayes were honored this Monday with the awards for Best Coach and Best Female Coach of the past season at the Ballon d'Or ceremony, with the prize named by the organizers as the "Johan Cruyff Trophy."
Ancelotti, 65, led Real Madrid to a standout LaLiga title and their 15th Champions League triumph.
This award, which from this year onwards will bear the name "Johan Cruyff Trophy" in tribute to the former player and coach of Barcelona, adds to a long list of national and international accolades already received by the Italian manager.
As with the other awards designated for Real Madrid, no one went up to collect the prize, as the club chose not to attend the Ballon d'Or ceremony.
The women’s award went to American Emma Hayes, the head coach of the U.S. national team, who was also absent from Paris.
"I'm very proud. Being able to coach these amazing people and teams makes today a very special day for me," the coach expressed in a video played during the ceremony.
