Ancelotti Backs Bellingham
Carlo Ancelotti, the Italian coach of Real Madrid, came to the defense of Jude Bellingham, acknowledging that "his goal-scoring has dropped but not his performance," assuring that he will soon shine again with his goals.
"What has dropped for Bellingham are the goals he scored, which were a surprise to everyone. The fact of scoring 20 goals in the first part of the season," analyzed Ancelotti during a press conference at Ciudad Real Madrid.
"Now he's doing his job as a midfielder or attacking midfielder, he has lowered his goal-scoring level but not his performance. He played with his national team, he did it against Athletic and he doesn't lack anything other than scoring goals, but sooner or later he will score them again," he added.
The coach also advised not to be too critical of players like Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappé for their low performance shown in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
"We need to be a bit more patient," he advised. "The truth is that these big stars haven't reached their peak level in the first game but there are other matches. Be careful with this, with Haaland, with Mbappé, and with Bellingham," he warned.
