(VIDEO) Julián Álvarez Joins Atlético Madrid Training Under Simeone
Julián Álvarez, the latest signing for Atlético Madrid, participated in his first training session with the team on Tuesday at the Majadahonda Sports Center. The session also saw the return of Pablo Barrios and Samu Omorodion, fresh off their Olympic gold medal victory at the Paris 2024 Games, with Omorodion rejoining after a failed transfer to Chelsea.
A day after his six-season deal with Atlético was announced, the forward trained with his new teammates, getting involved in ball work and participating in several rondos. He was seen chatting animatedly with several players, including fellow Argentine Rodrigo de Paul.
Álvarez, 24, comes from Manchester City and has signed with Atlético until 2030. He is one of only five players in history to have achieved the "triple crown" (World Cup, Champions League, and Copa Libertadores). His arrival bolsters Atlético’s squad alongside other new additions like center-back Robin Le Normand and Alexander Sorloth.
The session also marked the return of Pablo Barrios and Samu Omorodion, who were part of the Spanish national team that won gold at the Paris Olympics after defeating France 5-3 in the final. Omorodion is back with Atlético after his transfer to Chelsea fell through in recent days.
