Togo will host Burundi on Friday, September 25, at Stade de Kégué in Lomé, in the opening round of the AFCON 2027 Qualifiers.

How Togo Arrive

Togo begin their qualifying campaign under head coach Patrice Neveu, who named a 25-man squad for the opening matches against Burundi and Zambia.

The selection includes established internationals Djené Dakonam, Kodjo Fodoh Laba and Kévin Denkey, while Henri Koudossou, who plays for Arminia Bielefeld in Germany, has received his first international call-up.

Neveu has also recalled Youssifou Atte, Yaw Annor, Augustin Drakpé and Zuberu Sharani. However, defender Kennedy Boateng will miss the international window due to injury.

Burundi enter the group stage after eliminating Chad in the preliminary round of the AFCON 2027 Qualifiers.

The Swallows secured a 4-0 victory in the first leg before repeating the same result in the return fixture, advancing with an impressive 8-0 aggregate win.

Bienvenue Kanakimana played an important role in the second leg, scoring twice in the opening 22 minutes to help his team secure qualification for the next stage.

Under head coach Patrick Sangwa, Burundi will look to maintain their momentum as they pursue a return to the Africa Cup of Nations, having made their first appearance at the continental tournament in 2019.

After facing Togo, the Swallows will host Algeria on September 29 in their second Group I fixture.

A Crucial Opening Match in Group I

Togo and Burundi share Group I with Algeria and Zambia, making their opening encounter an important opportunity to collect points before facing their other group rivals.

The top two teams in Group I will qualify for AFCON 2027, which will be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
