(VIDEO) Dog Sneaks Into Winter Olympics and Goes Viral
“Nazgul,” the wolf-dog that crashed the 2026 Winter Olympics and went viral 🐺❄️
The wolf-dog Nazgul became the unexpected star of the day on Wednesday at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, after running onto the women’s team sprint cross-country skiing course.
The animal bypassed security and ran part of the track as if it were a competitor, surprising both the athletes and the audience, even crossing the finish line alongside several skiers.
According to organizers, Nazgul showed no aggressive behavior and was quickly controlled by security. The wolf-dog belongs to a former local skier, who confirmed that the animal is not dangerous.
The incident did not affect the results, although it caused confusion among the skiers and applause from the spectators.
For a few minutes, Nazgul’s appearance overshadowed the victory of the Swedish duo Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvist, who won gold with a time of 20:29.99, ahead of Swiss pair Nadja Kaelin and Nadine Faehndrich (20:31.39) and Germans Laura Gimmler and Coletta Rydzek (20:35.86).
This is not the first time an animal has invaded a ski course: in 2022, a dog also ran onto the track during the Alpine Ski World Cup in Bormio, Italy.
The curious episode with Nazgul has gone viral on social media, capturing the attention of millions of Winter Olympics fans and animal lovers.
