Truck Stolen at Tour de France with Fortune in Bicycles
During the night, the TotalEnergies truck in the Tour de France caravan was targeted in a robbery, resulting in the theft of around eleven bicycles and other mechanical equipment, valued at an initial estimate of €150,000 ($160,000).
The theft occurred at a hotel near the Le Lioran ski resort, the finish line of the eleventh stage, in the hotel's parking lot.
Witnesses reported that the alarm went off during the night, but the robbery could not be prevented.
Teams Uno X and Israel, also staying at the same hotel, did not experience any incidents.
French team riders started the twelfth stage in Aurillac with spare bicycles, although Anthony Turgis and Thomas Gichignard were without a backup bike.
TotalÉnergies stated they are negotiating with other teams to borrow mechanical equipment to repair the bicycles in case of technical issues.
