Wembanyama and His Most Viral Photo at the Paris 2024 Olympics
Victor Wembanyama has given us a legendary moment at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The 20-year-old French phenom and rising NBA star has once again taken over the headlines with his commanding presence on the court.
At 7'4", Wembanyama faced off against Yuki Togashi, the shortest player in the tournament at just 5'6". Their nearly one-meter height difference created an epic visual that will be remembered by basketball fans everywhere. This scene, from the thrilling game between France and Japan, has become one of the most iconic images of the Games.
Even though Wembanyama and Togashi play very different positions (center and point guard, respectively), they crossed paths several times during the game, highlighting the 22-inch gap between them. This almost surreal image has turned into one of the standout moments of the Olympics.
In the match, Wembanyama proved why he's considered one of basketball's top prospects. With 18 points and a clutch performance, scoring eight of his team’s ten points in overtime, he led France to a crucial 90-94 win over Japan.
After the game at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, Wembanyama said that when fans shout "MVP" at him while he’s shooting free throws, he feels like "the least" he can do is make them.
As the top pick in the 2023 NBA draft and last season’s best rookie, Wembanyama keeps showing that his talent is limitless. With his stellar performance, he's proving he's ready to become one of the biggest names in basketball in the years to come.
