Kayla Nemour wins Africa's first Olympic gold in gymnastics
Gymnast Kayla Nemour, a French national competing for Algeria, earned Africa its first Olympic medal in this sport by winning gold in the uneven bars.
Nemour triumphed in the final held at the Bercy Stadium with a score of 15.700 points, ahead of China's Qiu Qiyuan (15.500), a 17-year-old rising star in the world of gymnastics, who also performed with a difficulty of 7.200, just like the Algerian.
The bronze went to American Sunisa Lee (14.800) in the only final without the presence of her teammate Simone Biles.
This historic victory marks a significant milestone for Algeria and the African continent in artistic gymnastics, showcasing the growing level of competition and talent in this region.
