Franco Colapinto on the Tightrope: Is His Dream at Alpine Coming to an End?
Franco Colapinto fails to impress at Alpine: no points, under pressure, and with his future in doubt. Could he lose his seat in 2025?
The mirage that turned into a nightmare
Franco Colapinto arrived in Formula 1 as a breath of fresh air after leaving Williams. His return with Alpine promised to be the start of a golden era, but instead of establishing himself as a rising star, the Argentine finds himself in the eye of the storm. Eight races later, the numbers are clear: zero points and many doubts at Enstone.
What began as Flavio Briatore's big bet has turned into a problem that is difficult to justify. The pressure on the 22-year-old driver is increasing race after race, and in Germany there are already rumors about Alpine's lack of confidence in his future.
A contract that gives you no respite
Unlike other drivers on the grid, Colapinto signed with Alpine under unusual conditions: his contract depends on his performance in each race. Although he was initially expected to complete the season, his lack of results has set off alarm bells.
The German publication Auto Motor und Sport even reported that the team's management is seriously considering alternatives for 2025, just as the new F1 regulations come into effect.

Alpine's Plan B?
The driver market does not offer many options, but Alpine has already sounded out some big names. According to ESPN, the French team tried to convince Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez and Valtteri Bottas to join the team. However, both reportedly rejected the offer, prioritizing their future with the Cadillac project, which will debut in 2026.
Even so, the fact that Alpine sought to sign another driver while Colapinto remains in the garage is a clear sign: confidence in him is running out.
Dark present, uncertain future
With the championship resuming after the summer break, Colapinto faces crucial weeks ahead. If he fails to score points and demonstrate consistency, he may not return to the grid in 2025. In the worst-case scenario, his future could lie in WEC or even IndyCar, competitions where Alpine would be interested in placing him.
Argentine fans, who have supported him so much, are beginning to wonder if Colapinto's F1 dream was just a fleeting moment.
