Andrea Bagioli Seals Dramatic Victory in Gran Piemonte Sprint Showdown
Andrea Bagioli added to Soudal Quick-Step's success by clinching their second win of the week, this time at the Gran Piemonte. The Italian rider showcased his sprinting prowess as he narrowly outpaced Marc Hirschi (UAE Team Emirates) in a thrilling four-man sprint. Alex Aranburu (Movistar) secured third place, leaving Guillaume Martin (Cofidis) in fourth.
The race unfolded with constant attacks and a dynamic pace, and it was Hirschi who initiated the decisive move, breaking away with Bagioli at the 17km mark. The duo was later joined by Aranburu and Martin at 13km to go. Despite a relentless chase, they managed to maintain a slim lead all the way to the finish, setting the stage for an intense sprint battle that Bagioli ultimately claimed.
Throughout the day, two substantial breakaways shaped the narrative, with the second enduring until the challenging Alpette climb. As the peloton fractured on the climb, it paved the way for the final, decisive move that unfolded in a gripping sprint showdown, ultimately securing Bagioli and Soudal Quick-Step a well-deserved victory.
