An injured shoulder prevented Manny Pacquiao from being at his best in his defeat to Floyd Mayweather Jr in Las Vegas, the Filipino has revealed.
Pacquiao was seen off by the undefeated Mayweather - who now boasts a career record of 48-0-0 - in a unanimous points decision at the MGM Grand on Saturday.
But the 36-year-old claimed in his post-fight press conference that an injury stopped him from executing his ideal game-plan.
"Three weeks before my fight I had to skip my training for a couple of days for that reason," Pacquiao said.
"We went for an MRI - there is a tear in my right shoulder.
"I cannot use my right shoulder a lot [but] the fight was still good. But what we wanted to do, we could not do because of my shoulder."
However, Pacquiao - who believed he had won the match - refused to make excuses for his loss.
"Mayweather is a great boxer, give him the credit," he added.
