Immediate return to boxing

On Monday, August 25, Chávez Jr. was spotted at the Coliseo Boxing Club by Gallo Estrada, lacing up his gloves and resuming training after several weeks in custody in the United States and undergoing a deportation process. Videos shared on social media showed him in good physical shape, proving that despite legal setbacks, he has not lost his desire to remain active in the sport that has defined his life.

His appearance at the gym came after days of uncertainty and silence from his family. The reunion with his father was one of the most poignant moments, reinforcing that the boxing legacy of the Chávez family remains alive despite the controversy.

Legal proceedings ongoing

Despite returning to his sporting routine, “Junior” still faces an open criminal case. During a virtual hearing at the Federal Criminal Justice Center in Hermosillo, Judge Enrique Hernández Miranda ruled that the boxer could remain free while the case progresses, though he is prohibited from leaving the country during the investigation.

The prosecution presented more than 20 pieces of evidence alleging his involvement in arms trafficking, supposedly linked to the Sinaloa Cartel. The defense argued, however, that much of the evidence lacks solid grounds. The next hearing has been scheduled for November 24, when progress in the investigation will be reviewed.
