The Worst Is Confirmed for Stephen Curry: He Will Miss the NBA All-Star Game
Stephen Curry will remain sidelined. The Golden State Warriors star missed his fourth consecutive game Monday against the Memphis Grizzlies due to runner’s knee (chondromalacia patella) and is also expected to be out for Wednesday’s matchup against the San Antonio Spurs.
Curry to miss the All-Star Game due to injury
Within the organization, there is optimism that the point guard can return after the All-Star break, although head coach Steve Kerr confirmed that the two-time Finals MVP will not participate in this year’s NBA All-Star Game.
“He’s doing well,” Kerr said. “It’s really kind of a day-to-day thing, so it’s hard to predict for sure whether he’ll be playing in that first game after the break, but that’s definitely the hope. If he can get through everything this week, that puts him on pace to be playing.”
Curry was named All-Star Game MVP in 2022, delivering a historic performance with 50 points and 16 three-pointers. Last season, he won the award again — the second of his career — after leading Team Shaq to victory at the Chase Center.
Overall, the Warriors guard has appeared in 10 of the last 12 All-Star Games. He was not selected in 2021 due to a broken hand, and he missed the 2023 edition with a knee injury.
Curry is also a two-time Three-Point Contest champion, but he will not participate in the event this year, prioritizing his recovery for the second half of the NBA season.
