The Golden State Warriors Make an Unexpected Move With Jonathan Kuminga and Get Help for Stephen Curry
The Golden State Warriors shook up the NBA trade market with a last-minute move. The San Francisco franchise reached an agreement to acquire Latvian center Kristaps Porzingis in a deal that will send Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks, according to ESPN.
Porzingis, 30, is putting together a solid NBA season, averaging 17.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game with Atlanta, a team he joined after his stint with the Boston Celtics. The European big man will bring size, perimeter shooting, and experience to Steve Kerr’s rotation.
For the Warriors, Jonathan Kuminga’s departure marks the end of a four-season run after being selected seventh overall in the NBA Draft. Veteran shooter Buddy Hield will also head to Atlanta as part of the trade package.
According to sources, the deal was finalized just hours before the NBA trade deadline, becoming one of the most notable moves of the day.
