LeBron James Expands His Legacy With What Could Be His Last NBA All-Star Appearance
LeBron James makes history: He will be an NBA All-Star for the 22nd time, now as a reserve
LeBron James was selected for the NBA All-Star Game for the 22nd time, this February 15, although for the first time in his career he will do so as a reserve, the league announced this Sunday when revealing the rest of the players chosen for the All-Star Game.
Along with James, the Western Conference reserves will be Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Jamal Murray (Denver Nuggets), Chet Holmgren (Oklahoma City Thunder), Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns), and Deni Avdija (Portland Trail Blazers).
The Eastern Conference reserves will be Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland Cavaliers), Jalen Johnson (Atlanta Hawks), Karl-Anthony Towns (New York Knicks), Pascal Siakam (Indiana Pacers), Norman Powell (Miami Heat), Scottie Barnes (Toronto Raptors), and Jalen Duren (Detroit Pistons).
These 14 players join those previously announced as NBA All-Star starters.
In the East: Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks), Jalen Brunson (New York Knicks), Cade Cunningham (Detroit Pistons), Tyrese Maxey (Philadelphia 76ers), and Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics).
And in the West: Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets), Luka Doncic (Los Angeles Lakers), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder), Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), and Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio Spurs).
Despite being selected by conference, the players will be divided into two Team USA squads and one Team World, which for the first time will compete in a round-robin mini-tournament, followed by a final between the top two teams.
LeBron James leads the NBA All-Star Game with a historic record of 22 selections. He is followed by Kevin Durant (16), Stephen Curry (12), Giannis Antetokounmpo (10), and Nikola Jokic (8).
