Soto Hits HR In First MLB Game For Nationals
19-year-old Dominican prospect Juan Soto hits a HR in his first MLB game for the Washington Nationals
Juan Soto hit a home run in his second MLB at-bat for the Washington Nationals.
Recalling Soto in May would not have been in the Nationals' plans to start the season, but it paid off on Monday.
The Nationals promoted 19-year-old Soto to their roster on Sunday, when he received his first MLB at bat.
Monday, he recorded his first hit: an opposite-field home run on the first pitch he faced.
Soto became the first teenager to hit an MLB home run since team-mate Bryce Harper in September 2012.
His homer was a three-run shot, which helped Washington jump out to an early 5-0 lead over the San Diego Padres.
