The Miami Dolphins made it official on Saturday by hiring former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase as their new head coach.

Adam Gase has been confirmed as the new Miami Dolphins head coach.
The former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator has reportedly signed a five-year deal to succeed Dan Campbell, who stood in as interim coach after Joe Philbin's departure in October.
"We did exhaustive research on all of the candidates ahead of time and conducted thorough and detailed interviews with each person," said Dolphins owner and managing general partner Stephen Ross in a statement on the franchise's official website.
"In the end, I was convinced and the search committee was unanimous Adam was the right leader for our football team who best met all of our priorities.
"He has high-energy is competitive and driven to win with a mindset of teaching and developing players."
The Dolphins interviewed several candidates, including former NFL head coaches Mike Smith, Mike Shanahan and Doug Marrone, but Gase was the first to get the call back.
The 37-year-old Gase has no NFL head coaching experience, and becomes the youngest head coach in the league. But he has earned a strong reputation for his work the last three seasons as an offensive coordinator, first with the Denver Broncos and then last season with the Bears.
He helped create the Broncos' offensive juggernaut that scored an NFL-record 606 points in 2013.
Gase's ability to work with quarterbacks, including Jay Cutler in Chicago, has reportedly endeared him to the Dolphins. The team signed quarterback Ryan Tannehill to a big multi-year deal last offseason.
