1) Pogba becomes most expensive player on planet
Well, Manchester United are really dragging this one out.
On Sunday, it was the teasing announcement of #POGBACK. Monday saw the footballer’s medical and Tuesday brings the announcement of the deal from Juventus. And it’s a biggie – in the reported region of $130 million in a five-year contract at Old Trafford to surpass Gareth Bale as the most expensive transfer in soccer history. Throw in some wages in that period and the figure creeps up towards the $200 million mark.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Juventus and have some fantastic memories of a great club with players that I count as friends. But I feel the time is right to go back to Old Trafford,” chirped Pogba on Tuesday, who now joins up with his new teammates, including King Zlatan after what feels like a very extended vacation.
The heat is now on for Pogba to match the expectations of a price tag that surpasses that of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez, in a team that is not even playing in the Champions League this season.
2) Man City show Stones in Everton defender deal
DONE DEAL! Manchester City have lost their collective minds a little by paying $60 million for Everton centerback, John Stones. The 22-year-old becomes the most expensive English defender in history and signs a six-year-deal before eventually moving back to Goodison Park in half that time for half the amount.

3) Madrid set to face Super Cup challenge without BBC
Norway is the home for a UEFA Super Cup clash that Real Madrid cannot a-fjord to lose. Well. They can really, but that would ruin the inlet-based joke.
Coach Zizou's slightly depleted squad are taking on Sevilla in a battle between last season's Champions League and Europa League winners in Trondheim. Whilst Sevilla are much changed due to managerial and player departures, Madrid are likely to be starting without the BBC due to injury, vacation and injury respectively, to make the match a little bit of an unknown quantity.
Viewers in Canada can see if the Chile Copa America magic of Jorge Sampaoli can rub off on Sevilla in the day's big game, live at 2.45PM ET / 11.45AM PT. Catch highlights and reaction on the XTRA at 7PM ET.
4) De Boer jets Inter Milan as Swansea sign shining light of La Liga
As expected, Inter Milan have moved quickly to replace Roberto Mancini with the restart of Serie A just a week-and-a-half away. Former Ajax boss, Frank De Boer, takes over as coach in a three-year deal. One of the Dutchman’s first challenges will be to fend off suitors out to lure forward, Mauro Icardi, from the club.
DONE DEAL! Swansea City have signed a footballer who was very much the unsung hero from La Liga last season in the striking shape of Borja Baston. The Spaniard scored 18 goals for Eibar while on loan from Atletico Madrid and signs for a reported fee of $19 million.
5) Lilly King in double victory over tainted Russian rival
As it stands with Day Four underway at the Olympics, USA top the medal table with 19 medals, including five golds. Two of those were picked up in the pool with Ryan Murphy and Lilly King upstanding for the anthem.
King’s was a particularly sweet victory in the 100m breaststroke as it was also a defeat against her Russian rival, Yulia Efimova, who had previously served a 16-month suspension for failing doping tests and had some rather provocative finger-wagging.
As ever, there are a bunch of big events going on, but highlights include Team USA competing in the women’s gymnastics, soccer and beach volleyball. Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky will attempt to pick up even more medals in the pool. And there’s diving, kayaking, fencing, equestrian, rowing…
