Matthew Stafford Delivers a Major Blow to Drake Maye Ahead of the Super Bowl: Wins NFL MVP
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was named the NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) this Thursday during the NFL Honors ceremony, which recognizes the league’s best performances ahead of Super Bowl LX.
“I’m very honored to be here. Thank you to my teammates and coaches. This team is very special,” Stafford said as he accepted the first MVP award of his career, accompanied by his family.
The ceremony, held just days before the Super Bowl, also recognized several standout performers from the season.
New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel was named Coach of the Year after leading the team to the Super Bowl in his first season in charge.
One of the biggest ovations of the night came when Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett won Defensive Player of the Year after setting a season record with 23 sacks.
On offense, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was named Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league with 119 receptions and 1,793 receiving yards, helping his team reach Super Bowl LX.
The Comeback Player of the Year award went to San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, who returned from a serious knee injury to help his team reach the playoffs.
Among rookies, Tetairoa McMillan (Carolina Panthers) was named Offensive Rookie of the Year, while Carson Schwesinger (Cleveland Browns) earned Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.
One of the most emotional moments of the ceremony came when Washington Commanders linebacker Bobby Wagner received the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for excellence on the field and service to the community.
The ceremony also announced the new members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, led by legendary kicker Adam Vinatieri, alongside Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, Roger Craig, and Luke Kuechly.
With the awards decided, attention now turns to Super Bowl LX, where the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks will face off this weekend.
