Buffon backs Spalletti for Juventus job
Luciano Spalletti would be an ideal choice as the new Juventus manager, legend Gianluigi Buffon said.
Spalletti is reportedly a prime candidate to join Juve, after it sacked Igor Tudor on Tuesday.
Tudor only took charge in March, yet an eight-game winless streak saw Juve part company with the Croatian.
Spalletti guided Napoli to the Serie A title in 2023, but then endured an underwhelming stint in charge of Italy.
However, Buffon feels the 66 year-old would be an excellent appointment.
"For me, Luciano is the right profile for any big club that wants to remain ambitious. You won’t lose many with Luciano," Buffon said.
"It would be a great professional choice.
"He’s a football man, he’s a great person and a great coach.
"Spalletti is the best around in terms of experience, charisma and authority. He’s the right person for ambitious clubs who want to remain ambitious. It’s a shame seeing him not in the dugout."
Juve is back in action on Thursday when it goes up against Udinese in Serie A.
