Brighton completes £20m move for Struijk
Pascal Struijk was a mainstay for Leeds United, but the defender has now joined Premier League rival Brighton for a reported £20m fee.
Struijk has signed a five-year deal at Brighton, which reportedly paid £20m to secure the centre-back.
The 26 year-old joined Leeds from Ajax in 2018 and made 196 appearances for the club across all competitions.
Struijk made 34 appearances in the Premier League last season, as Leeds secured an impressive 14th-place finish in their first season back in the big time since 2022-2023.
However, with just a year left on his contract, Leeds elected to cash in, and Struijk now heads to Brighton, seemingly as a replacement for his compatriot Jan Paul van Hecke, who joined Tottenham for £52m.
"Pascal is exactly the sort of profile we wanted to add to the squad this summer, in that he's got good Premier League experience and has his peak years ahead of him," Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler said.
"He really showcased what he's capable of last season – great defensive actions while comfortable on the ball – with his style well-suited to ours.
"He is also a leader, having worn the captain's armband at times for Leeds last season. He is an excellent addition to the group, and I am looking forward to working with him."
Brighton reportedly lodged a bid for Spurs youngster Luka Vuskovic, too, as the Seagulls look to restructure their centre-back options.
Leeds, meanwhile, is reportedly set to sign Harry Wilson as a free agent.
Wilson scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in the Premier League for Fulham last season.
