Wimbledon finalist Murray a challenger for every slam - Hewitt
With two grand slams from eight finals appearances, Lleyton Hewitt has backed Andy Murray to continue challenging.
Former world number one Lleyton Hewitt is not surprised Andy Murray is in the Wimbledon final, believing the two-time grand-slam champion will continue to challenge for every major tournament.
World number two Murray, 29, booked his spot in Sunday's decider at the All England Club with a 6-3 6-3 6-3 victory over Tomas Berdych on Friday.
Murray is favourite to add a second Wimbledon crown to his 2013 triumph against Milos Raonic, who stunned Roger Federer, while world number one Novak Djokovic did not make it past the opening week at SW19.
And the now-retired Hewitt - Wimbledon champion in 2002 - has backed Murray for future success, having only won two of his eight grand slam finals thus far.
"He's been about in nearly every grand slam in the past five years or so," the 35-year-old Australian told Omnisport.
"He gives himself a great opportunity and he does all the right things and he plays well on all surfaces so I am not surprised that he is one of the big contenders this time, especially at Wimbledon. He handles the pressures and demands of him playing at home well.
"There is no reason why in a couple of months he can't play well at the US Open again and the Australian Open he has lost in last five finals in the past so I think for the next three of four years he is going to be a challenger in every grand slam."
