Inter Milan edged Benfica to a 1-0 Champions League win at the San Siro. Marcus Thuram struck the only goal in the contest that Inter largely dominated throughout. 

Inter were happy to concede possession to Benfica in the early stages, yet were lighting quick on the counter-attack allowing Denzel Dumfries to pick up the ball on the right and deliver a dangerous cross that was just too heavy for a sliding Henrikh Mkhitaryan to convert.

The hosts continued to dominate and finally made the breakthrough just after the hour mark. Denzel Dumfries was critical again and his pass was picked up by Marcus Thuram who made no mistake with a curling first-time shot.

The result means that Inter maintains their undefeated start to Group D, and will take on RB Salzburg at home on matchday 3.
