Doku last played for Belgium during its quarter-final defeat to Spain at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, having sustained a calf injury that ruled him out of the previous international window.

The 24-year-old missed the first part of the season but has since returned for City, scoring one goal and providing one assist in nine appearances across all competitions.

But Belgium is still without Real Madrid's goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who agreed with Van Bommel during the previous international break that he would take a period of leave from the squad.

Van Bommel has named four goalkeepers as a result, with Jari De Busser, Senne Lammens, Mike Penders and Maarten Vandevoordt all selected in his latest group.

Genk's Josue Kongolo has been called up for the first time after earning a promotion from Belgium Under-21 and will replace AC Milan defender Koni De Winter.

It was confirmed by Van Bommel that De Winter had refused a call-up because he was unhappy at having been left on the bench for previous games.

Five players from Serie A have been included in Van Bommel's squad, with Kevin De Bruyne, Diego Moreira, Arthur Theate, Mandela Keita and Charles De Ketelaere all included.

Belgium sits third in Group A1 after its opening four matches in the UEFA Nations League, with Italy and France above it in the current standings.

The Red Devils make the trip to Turkiye on 13 November (AEDT), before hosting Roberto Mancini's Italy in Brussels three days later.
