Vlahovic scores Besiktas winner in Istanbul derby
Dusan Vlahovic scored the winner as Besiktas came from a goal down to earn bragging rights in the Super Lig's Istanbul Derby with a 2-1 win at Fenerbahce.
The hosts had gone ahead through Milan Skriniar in the 26th minute, but Besiktas rallied strongly, equalising through Ridvan Yilmaz in the 38th minute after a brilliant trivela assist from the left wing by another Besiktas new recruit, Leandro Trossard.
Vlahovic scored the winner in the 73rd minute when Orkun Kokco was set free on a breakaway, drew the goalkeeper and defenders to him before handing the job of scoring to the unmarked Serb to spark wild scenes on the touchline.
Trossard came close to adding even more gloss to the scoreline when he grazed the outside of the post with a powerful effort from the edge of the box with 10 minutes to go.
But it mattered not as Besiktas saw out the win, claiming another three points to make it nine from four matches, just one point and one place behind unbeaten leader Galatasaray.
