Atalanta seals deal for Gianluca Gaetano
Atalanta has confirmed the signing of midfielder Gianluca Gaetano from Cagliari in a deal reportedly worth around €14 million ($23.1 million).
La Dea appears set to sell Brazil international Ederson to Manchester United for a fee rising to €45 million ($74.1 million), and it has brought in a replacement ahead of that deal being sealed.
Gaetano made 33 appearances for Cagliari in Serie A last season as it finished 14th on the table, securing a fourth consecutive season in Italy's top flight.
The 26-year-old, who was capped up to under-21 level by Italy but has never represented the senior team, came through Napoli's youth system before joining Cagliari in 2024, initially on loan.
He has played 93 matches in Serie A overall, scoring 10 goals and supplying 10 assists.
Atalanta is preparing for its first season under Maurizio Sarri, having moved for the former Lazio boss after parting company with Raffaele Palladino in June.
It finished seventh in Serie A last term, 12 points adrift of the top four and 10 behind sixth-placed Juventus, with a place in the UEFA Conference League awaiting in 2026-2027.
