Allegri wants Napoli to go on a victory run
Massimiliano Allegri wants Napoli to produce a run of victories coming out of the international break, with Sunday's (AEDT) meeting with Frosinone kickstarting a congested schedule.
Napoli is ninth in Serie A five games into its first campaign under Allegri, having drawn 1-1 with Fiorentina in its most recent match.
Its two defeats this term came in back-to-back games, against fellow title hopefuls Inter Milan and Como.
As it prepares to return to action after a three-week hiatus for the international window, Allegri knows a strong run of form will be important if the Partenopei are to avoid falling behind in the title race.
"There should be no anxiety, but we have to be focused on the goal, which is to take the three points [against Frosinone]," Allegri said.
"We will have to put together a good string of victories to stay in touch, and then there's the Champions League, which is an important goal. But we have to think one step at a time."
Napoli will play nine games in just shorter than a month prior to the November international break, but has been boosted by Scott McTominay's return to training.
The Scotland international missed four straight games after undergoing a procedure to correct a minor heart issue, and Allegri plans to use him from the bench this weekend.
"The news is that McTominay will be called up, and we will have him available for at least 20 to 30 minutes," Allegri said.
"Right now, we've lost [Antonio] Vergara and [Costantino] Favasuli for a longer period, but [Mathias] Olivera should be okay within a week. [Frank] Anguissa is recovering.
"We've got [Luca] Marianucci coming back in, as well as [Benoit] Badiashile, who has come on a lot. We've also got [Rafa] Marin available, so I'm not worried."
Frosinone has made an excellent start to the season after its promotion from Serie B, taking 10 points to sit sixth on the table, three places and three points above Napoli.
